Schwannoma Located in Nasopharyngeal Region
Schwannoma is a tumor which has neuroectoderm origins, is hard, well-circumscribed, encapsulated, and slow growing benign cranial tumor, and may autonomously grow out of the nerve sheath of peripheral nerves. It is mostly seen in the head and neck region. In the paranasal sinus and nose areas, it is seen at a rate of 4%. The diagnosis is mostly made after histopathological examination. In this ...
متن کاملNasal schwannoma.
Schwannomas are most commonly located on the VIII CN(80%). They are more rarely found in the nasal region (4%). On the nose, they may rise from the autonomous nervous fibers or from branches of the V CN. Malignant transformation is rare (2%). According to Hillstrom1, electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry help in differentiating this tumor from neurofibromas, the latter with more common m...
متن کاملBreast Schwannoma
Schwannomas arise from Schwann cells of the peripheral nerve sheath. The most common locations include the head, neck, and extensor surfaces of the extremities. Intramammary schwannomas are very rare and account for only 2.6% of schwannomas. A review of the English literature reveals 27 such cases of breast schwannoma. In this paper we describe another such rare case.
متن کاملIntracochlear Schwannoma
Intracochlear schwannoma may cause progressive or sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Radiologic findings can be overlooked especially when attention is focused on the internal auditory canal. Otolaryngologists should be familiar with the diagnosis and treatment of this important but uncommon lesion.
متن کاملGastric Schwannoma
Schwannomas, also known as neurinomas or neurilemmomas, are generally benign, slow-growing neoplasms originating in any nerve that has a Schwann cell sheath. These neoplasms are rare among the spindle cell mesenchymal tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, but develop most commonly in the stomach representing 0.2% of all gastric tumors. We present the case of a 57-year-old female patient with a ...
